Recently, Shopee Malaysia has announced the latest adjustments to its commission policy, stating that starting from February 1, 2026, commission rates for different categories of Marketplace sellers will be increased. The most significant change is the planned addition of a 5% Platform Support Fee from February onwards, making the platform's fee structure increasingly complex.
What is a Marketplace Seller?
Shopee's local seller types are primarily divided into Marketplace sellers and Shopee Mall sellers. Marketplace sellers mainly operate their stores independently, handling product listings, pricing, marketing, and customer service.
Who Needs to Pay the Shopee Commission Fee?
The Commission Fee is a basic charge levied by the Shopee platform for providing a transaction venue, technical support, and payment services. This adjustment primarily raises the technical support fee.
Specifically, sellers required to pay the Shopee Commission Fee include: all local sellers registered on the Malaysia site, cross-border sellers, as well as businesses and individuals selling through Shopee.
What is the Platform Support Fee?
The Platform Support Fee is a service charge introduced to support the continuous development, provision, maintenance, upgrade, and enhancement of the Shopee platform to ensure a seamless user experience. This includes exciting new and upcoming features such as the Shopee Seller Centre application, AI-generated content, Shop AI Assistant, and various new features that allow sellers to optimize their sales and performance, and enable buyers to shop more easily. This fee is applicable to all successful sales transactions on the Shopee e-commerce platform.
How is the Marketplace Commission Fee Calculated?
The Commission Fee will be charged on your product price, after deducting all Seller Product Discounts and Seller Vouchers.
Seller Product Discounts refer to item rebates provided by sellers, while Seller Vouchers refer to all seller-borne vouchers.
Commission Fee = (Product Price - Seller Product Discount - Seller Vouchers) * Commission RateExample of Commission Fee Calculation:
A seller lists a camera with an original price of RM1000. The product has a 10% discount, and the buyer redeems a seller voucher worth RM200. The camera falls under the electronics category, with a commission rate of 6%. What is the actual commission fee the seller needs to pay?
Product: Cameras
Product Price: RM1000
Seller Product Discount: 10%
Seller Vouchers: RM200
Commission Rate: 6%
Commission Fee = RM (1000 - 1000 * 10% - 200) * 6% = RM42
How to Check Your Shopee Commission Fee?
Refer to My Income > My Tax Invoices on Seller Centre to check the Commission Fee charged for all your completed orders.
New Seller Commission Incentive Policy:
New local Marketplace sellers will only be charged after listing their first product for more than 120 days or having more than 100 completed orders, whichever comes first.
